200-Spot Waiting List Opens At UWS Apartment Complex

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side apartment complex has reopened its 200-spot waiting list for below-market-rate units.

A lottery will be held in early 2020 to fill the waiting list at the West End Towers complex on West End Avenue between West 61st and 63rd streets. Spots on the list are reserved for applicants earning 130% of the area median income, which the city defines as "middle income." Applicants must earn at least $69,469 to qualify for studios and $76,252 to qualify for one-bedroom units.

Rents for apartments offered through the lottery begin at $1,997 for studios and $2,224 for one-bedrooms.

To apply for the waiting list, prospective tenants must use the city's Housing Connect website. Applications can also be submitted by mail by sending a completed application to: WEST END TOWERS c/o Urban Associates, LLC., P.O. Box 4010 New York, NY 10023.

Applications must be submitted by Dec. 31. After the deadline, all the applications will be submitted into a lottery. Lottery winners that qualify for the apartments will be asked to attend an interview where they must provide documents that verify household size, identity of members of your household and household income. The meetings are scheduled between two and 10 months following the application deadline.
