First Full-Floor Penthouse Sells At Controversial UWS Tower
The deal is the first penthouse to be agreed on in the controversial 200 Amsterdam tower on the UWS, according to Mansion Global.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A little under two months ago, a New York court ruled that developers did not have to cut the controversial 200 Amsterdam tower in half and would be able to finish its construction by the summer.
Now, the first full-floor penthouse has sold at the embattled Upper West Side property, according to Mansion Global.
The luxury real estate website reported that the buyer purchased a three-bedroom penthouse for $17.5 million, which occupies the entire 47th floor of the 52-story building. It is one of the floors that would have been knocked down if the court case ruled in the opposite favor.

“We have been seeing tremendous interest in the building, which aligns with the surge that's been happening at the top end of the market,” Jill Mangone told Mansion Global, the sales director of the development team handling the Upper West Side building. “In many cases, buyers now want a larger apartment than they were previously looking for."
According to Mansion Global, the buyers are long-time renters on the Upper West Side and have been searching for a home "of this caliber" for years.
