Housing Lottery Opens for 50 Affordable-Rate Units in Upper West Side Building

A luxury apartment tower on West End Avenue is offering up 50 units at below market-value rates.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A housing lottery is now open for 50 rental units at below market-rate prices in a luxury apartment tower on the Upper West Side. People interested in the snagging one of the apartments at the West End Towers — located on West End Avenue between West 62nd Street and West 63rd Street — can apply at the NYC Housing Connect website.

But here's a catch: The "affordable" units are only eligible for people making at least $70,000 a year.

In total, there are 32 available studios for $2,024 a month, 15 one-bedroom apartments for $2,170 a month and three two-bedroom apartments for $2,611 a month. That's not exactly cheap, but still more affordable than what the building asks for market-rate units.
