COLUMBUS CIRCLE, NY — Another Manhattan building is set to ditch Donald Trump's brand in the wake of the real estate developer's rise to the presidency, according to reports.

Condo owners at the Trump International Hotel and Tower are expected to approve a proposal which may result in removing Trump's name from the sign at the building's entrance, the New York Times first reported. The Trump Organization will remain managers of the building and keep the Trump branding for the tower's hotel, which occupies the first 17 floors of the 44-story building, according to the report.

Donald Trump Jr., who sits on the building's condo board, proposed the deal following demands from unit owners to strip the building of Trump's brand entirely, the Times reported. The president has few political admirers in his native New York City, which voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton in 2016. The Columbus Circle tower has also provided the setting for a number of protests against Trump's administration since the election, and New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand launched her campaign for the Democratic nomination for the 2020 election to take a shot at the president.

Condo owners first vented their frustrations with the Trump brand during a June condo board meeting where owners claimed the name has diminished the values of homes in the luxury tower. New signage at the building will likely give "One Columbus Circle" top billing, possibly replacing the giant gold-lettered Trump sign that hangs over the building's entrance, the Times reported.

Residents at Trump-branded buildings across New York City have removed the president's name from their buildings since his election. Condo boards at four buildings on the Upper West Side — 120, 140, 160 and 180 — all voted to remove Trump's name from their facades. Some of the buildings even fought the Trump Organization in court.

The hotel formerly known as the Trump SoHo was renamed The Dominick in 2017 after the president's real estate firm was bought out of its management contract.
