UWS Building With 20 Apartments, 3 Stores To Be Demolished

Developers filed plans in 2017 to construct a 15-story building at the site.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Developers have filed plans with the city Department of Buildings to demolish a mixed-used building that could pave the way for the construction of a new development.

The building to be demolished is located at 251 W. 91st St. and Broadway, with addresses on both streets. The building currently contains space for 20 apartments and three retail stores, according to its certificate of occupancy on the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development site.

Plans do not specify when demolition will begin.

Building owners, listed on city records as Tomas and Robert Rosenthal, filed plans in 2017 to build a new 15-story development on the Upper West Side site. Those plans were approved by the city in December 2017, but its unclear if the owners are still pursuing the project or have drawn up new plans in the past year.

The 2017 plans are for a building that rises 197-feet-tall with 33 apartments and space for two retail businesses, according to city records.
