3 Arrested, Officer Hurt After Stolen Jeep Found In Wantagh: Cops
A police officer was taken to a hospital with knee and hand injuries after a stolen Jeep was found in Wantagh.

WANTAGH, NY — A police officer was taken to a hospital after police said he was hurt while trying to arrest a 17-year-old who was inside a stolen SUV with two men.
Around 8:30 a.m. Friday, police received a report of a suspicious Jeep Cherokee with people inside on Cornelius Avenue. Officers found the SUV, which had the same New York registration provided to police and was stolen from Oceanside.
The vehicle was heading east on Eaton Road when officers activated their emergency lights and tried to perform a traffic stop. The Jeep refused to pull over and continued on for a while until the driver and passengers got out and ran. The vehicle continued plowing ahead after the occupants ran, crashing into a police vehicle. The officer driving the vehicle was not hurt.

A police dog helped find the three occupants and take them into custody. When police tried to arrest the teen, he resisted, leaving an officer with injuries to his right knee and left hand that resulted in significant pain and swelling.
Jamil Davis-Taylor, 18, Shawn Harvey, 22, and the 17-year-old boy were all arrested and found with stolen credit cards and other items, police said.

Davis-Taylor faces charges of fourth-degree unlawful possession of stolen property, fifth-degree unlawful possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Harvey faces charges of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The teen faces charges of second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and resisting arrest.
They were scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
