Wantagh Man Sexually Abused Campers At Long Island Day Camp: Police

In April, Jay Marcello, 25, counselor at a Long Island day camp who lives and works in Wantagh was arrested for sexually abusing campers, according to Suffolk Police. According to authorities, Marcello, 25, endangered the welfare of the campers and disseminated indecent material to minors while working at Kenwal Day Camp, located at 100 Drexel Ave. in Melville. Police say Marcello, who was employed by Camp Kenwal for the past seven years, inappropriately touched 14-year-old campers and had inappropriate conversations with campers of various ages between July and August 2016.

Queens Woman Arrested For Prostitution At Wantagh Massage Parlor

A Queens woman was arrested in Wantagh in April after she offered to perform sexual acts for money to an undercover detective at a massage parlor. According to police, the Narcotics Vice Squad received many complaints from local school and church groups about Foot Spa, located at 1943 Wantagh Ave. In April, a detective entered the spa and received an unlicensed massage. Police say Hui Meng, 52, of Sanford Avenue, Flushing, then offered to perform a sexual act for additional money. Meng was arrested without incident.

Luke Bryan Truck Hits Overpass On Wantagh Parkway After Jones Beach Show

Over the summer, country singer Luke Bryan had the truck carrying his gear get stuck under an overpass on the Wantagh State Parkway after his final show at Jones Beach.

Jones Beach Named One Of The Best Family Beaches In Country

In April, Jones Beach was named one of the Best Beaches for Families for 2017 by Family Vacation Critic. The website was looking for beaches that gave families a chance to get away and relax. "...With the convenience of calm, lifeguard-protected waters; restrooms/showers; and nearby attractions," they wrote. And Jones Beach meets all the requirements.
