Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Meet Banjo!
This big guy is looking for his forever home. Will it be with you?

Meet Patch's Adoptable Pet of the Week, courtesy of the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. This week's top dog is Banjo!
Banjo is a 3-year-old Pit Bull-Terrier mix. He's a big boy, too, weighing 75 pounds. However, that's 75 pounds of love. According to the shelter, Banjo is a big goof ball who's great with people.
Banjo is one of the longest residents of the Town of Hempstead shelter, and the workers there know he'll be amazing in a new home. He knows to sit, and is working on learning to heel.

According to the shelter, he also has the "mushiest, cutest cheeks," but we here at Patch couldn't confirm that fact.

Fun (possibly untrue) fact about Banjo: Contrary to his name, he cannot play the banjo. However, he is an awesome bass player.

"As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever home," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."
If you're interested in adopting Banjo, or any of dozens of other cats and dogs, visit the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. For more information, call (516)785-5220 or visit the shelter's website.
