Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Meet Dutchess!

This beautiful girl is looking for her forever home. Will it be with you?

Meet Patch's Adoptable Pet of the Week, courtesy of the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. This week's top dog is Dutchess!

Dutchess is a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix. She was found abandoned in a car in September 2017, and has been with the shelter since.

The folks at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter say that Dutchess can be wary of new people, but once she likes you, she's a "total sweetheart." They also say she is playful with toys and has the "cutest smile." We here at Patch can confirm the cuteness of her smile.

Definitely a cutey.

Fun (possibly untrue) fact about Dutchess: She is actually the duchess of a small kingdom in eastern Europe. And no, you cannot vacation at her palace.

"As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever home," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."
