Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Meet Polo!

Polo is an energetic and goofy dog that needs some special care.

Meet Patch's adoptable pet of the week, courtesy of the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. This week's featured furry friend is Polo.

Polo was a stray that was brought to the shelter after he was found in the street. He is about 1 year old and, according to the shelter, "sweet, goofy, silly [and] energetic." Polo has a brain disorder, though, and experiences seizures and neurological issues. He is on medication for the seizures, which seems to be getting it under control, but the vets aren't sure what's causing his neurological issues.

The shelter says that Polo needs a good, loving home to help him recover and deal with his condition. He likes other dogs, and is looking for a forever home. If that's with you, or if you want to foster Polo until he gets adopted, you can!

"As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever home," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."

If you're interested in adopting Polo, or any of dozens of other cats and dogs, visit the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. For more information, call (516)785-5220 or visit the shelter's website.
