Annual Honors Achieved By Best Of Wantagh High School Seniors
Several dozen graduates earned awards or scholarships.

WANTAGH, NY — The best of Wantagh High School's class of 2021 were recognized for their stellar achievements.
The top graduates were honored at the recent Senior Awards ceremony in the school's auditorium, although parents participated virtually.
The awards were given for scholarship, service, extracurricular activities and overcoming hardships, the Wantagh School District said.

Senior awards advisor Kali Psihos said the ceremony is a way to honor students who have worked diligently throughout their four years of high school and especially during the past year of the pandemic.
"Each of you has given your all in unprecedented times," she said.

Wantagh High School valedictorian Melanie Volz received the Board of Education Paideia Award for Leadership, Scholarship and Service and salutatorian Hayden Maitra won the Superintendent’s Excelsior Award for Achievement and Dedication.
Among the top-tier graduates, 85 students received 64 awards and scholarships, made possible by local businesses, alumni and organizations, the Wantagh School District said in a statement.
Seventeen seniors received the President's Award for Outstanding Educational Achievement.
