Long Island Nor'easter: The Latest On What You Need To Know

Winter storm warnings have been issued for parts of the island. The latest on how much snow is coming and when.

Another nor'easter is bringing snow, gusty winds and potential coastal flooding to Long Island Tuesday.

Bands of moderate to heavy snow will continue to develop across the area Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service says. Snowfall rates will increase along with visibilities dropping as low as one quarter mile at times, especially on the East End. Road conditions will rapidly deteriorate through the morning commute making travel difficult. Travel is not recommended.

  • A winter weather advisory is in effect for Nassau County until 4 p.m. Tuesday. A total of 3-6 inches of snow is expected.
  • A winter storm warning is in effect for western Suffolk County until 6 p.m. Tuesday. A total of 4-8 inches of snow is expected.
  • A winter storm warning is in effect for eastern Suffolk County until 6 p.m. Tuesday. A total of 8-12 inches of snow is expected.

The snow is expected to end from west to east in the afternoon.
