WANTAGH, NY — Ticket sales for the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach were “temporarily suspended” about seven hours after they began at 9 a.m. “due to technical difficulties associated with overwhelming demand,” New York State Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums announced Monday.

A new date for the ticket sales will be announced in the future, and all purchases already completed on Monday will be honored, parks officials said. In a press release to members of the media, parks officials said the department “appreciates the patience of Air Show enthusiasts as we strive to meet the challenges of holding this large-scale event in a safe manner.”

“We recognize the importance of this event and we are committed to ensuring everyone has a fair chance and adequate notice to obtain a ticket,” the press release concluded.
