Jones Beach Air Show Memorial Day Lineup Set

The weekend shows are sold out at Jones Beach, but a livestream will be available to see the famed Thunderbirds.

WANTAGH, NY — The engines will be soon be revving as the Bethpage Air Show returns this weekend to usher in the unofficial start of summer. The famed air show was canceled last year due to the pandemic.

The final lineup has been solidified for the show, which is sold out for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a news release.

Those who have tickets will see the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlining the fly-over Jones Beach for the eighth time. More than 365,000 attended the air show in 2019 for the Thunderbirds most recent appearance.

The U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team is expected to perform for the 15th time.

The U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II, the first aircraft to be designed for close air support of ground forces, and the U.S. Coast Guard Search & Rescue Demonstration are also on the schedule.

"We are thrilled to welcome back the Bethpage Air Show and show headliners, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds," George Gorman, Director, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation, said in a statement. "We encourage those who were unable to buy parking passes, to view the livestreamed show online. It’s going to be a spectacular!"

The livestream is scheduled to run on the WABC-TV website. Livestream viewers will have exclusive content as for the first various planes will have cameras on board for a unique perspective.
