Boy Struck By Personal Watercraft Off Jones Beach: Nassau Police

The 8-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and Anthony DeJesus was arrested in connection to the incident, police said.

WANTAGH, NY — A boy, swimming off at Jones Beach, was struck by a personal watercraft, police said. The 8-year-old was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, detectives said.

Anthony DeJesus, 30, of The Bronx, was arrested Saturday night at Jones Beach State Park Field 10. He faces several charges including, operating a vessel, impaired by alcohol and reckless operation of a vessel. He was also charged with operating the vessel without a safety certificate.

Nassau Marine Bureau officers and New York State Parks Police responded to the incident.
