Residents of The Bristal at Massapequa enjoyed visiting the Farmingdale Public Library where their artwork was on display. One of the participating artists said it is surprising to find out that some of the talented residents didn't begin to paint until later in life. She says she also did it on a whim in her 70's and found it thrilling.

The Bristal at Massapequa's Director of Recreation, Jennifer Kongevold, says that once they retire, many seniors have the freedom to pursue long-lost hobbies, or discover new ones. "One of the best parts of my job is helping our residents express themselves creatively in many different ways. We have so much fun together trying new things!" remarked Kongevold. Partnering with local libraries and other organizations to exhibit their creations not only validates the artists, but is also a great for residents to stay involved in the community. More than two dozen pieces created by residents of The Bristal at Massapequa were on display throughout February. It was the second time the Farmingdale Public Library has exhibited their artwork.
