Coronavirus: Seaford Schools Set Up Plan

There have been no reported cases of the new coronavirus in the Seaford School District, but the superintendent is planning ahead.

SEAFORD, NY — Seaford schools may need to close as a result of the spread of the new coronavirus, according to a letter from Superintendent Adele Pecora. Pecora said in a letter to parents and guardians that officials are developing a plan to prepare for a possible infection case within the district.

Pecora cited a New York State Department of Health directive which requires an initial 24-hour closure of schools if a case of coronavirus is confirmed in the district.

"When a student or staff member attended school prior to being confirmed as a COVID-19 case, New York State Department of Health requires an initial 24-hour closure, in order to begin an investigation to determine the contacts that the individual may have had within the school environment," the directive says.
