Dough Nut Pass By Wantagh's Newest Business

Dough Me A Flavor brings gourmet doughnuts to the area.

If you like fantastic flavors in unique combinations (and puns), then Wantagh's newest store is for you. It seeks to fill that doughnut-shaped hole in your heart. And your stomach.

Dough Me A Flavor is a new gourmet doughnut shop, located at 3252 Railroad Ave., across from the Wantagh train station near Mulcahys Pub. Owners Justin McCarthy and Rikki Giordano have crafted one of the most unique doughnut experiences on Long Island.

Forget about glazed and jelly. Here, you can get flavors like Fruity Pebbles, Coffee Crumb and Candied Maple Bacon, which is McCarthy's personal favorite.

In addition to premade doughnuts, guests can also partake of the Sweet Street custom doughnut bar. They choose their type of doughnut, frosting, three of the 14 different toppings and a drizzle. Think of it as a sundae bar for donuts. And there are hundreds of possible combinations.

McCarthy said the idea to open the shop came from Giordano, who brings the creative flair to the business. McCarthy is putting his decades in food service to the business end of things. "So we took her ingenuity and creativity, combined with my experience in food service, and this is what we came up with," he said.

Though the store has only been open a few days, it already has dozens of fantastic reviews on Facebook.

They chose the Wantagh location because they wanted to be in the community, which isn't far from either of their homes — McCarthy lives in Massapeque and Giordano in Amityville.

Dough Me A Flavor opened its doors last Saturday. The grand opening is this Saturday, July 1. There will be music, free samples and lots of fun for everyone.

"We’re going to make it as fun and enthusiastic as possible," said McCarthy.
