SEAFORD, NY — A fire swept through a Seaford home on Tuesday and firefighters needed about 40 minutes to get the blaze under control.
A spokesman for the Wantagh Fire Department told Patch on Thursday it responded to 11 alarms Tuesday, culminating in a house fire on Hilaire Way, near Gwenn Gate, around 11 p.m.
Chief Ken Kelly was among the first to respond and eventually he reported a working house fire due to intense flames seen at the back of the two-story home. Firefighters rushed to the address and took up positions to attack the blaze with various vehicles, including engines and ladder trucks.

Four hose lines were stretched to the home and crews placed ladders around the building. Firefighters ventilated the blaze and searched the home for occupants.
Officials said the blaze appeared to begin in the rear of the home and rapidly spread up the back, eventually burning above firefighters in the attic.

Units from Seaford, Massapequa and North Bellmore helped put out the blaze.
Investigators from the Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad and Fire Marshal’s Office were investigating. The cause does not appear suspicious. Utility workers shut off electric and gas service to the area while firefighters battled the inferno.
No one was hurt.
