Flash Flood Watch in Effect For Nassau County
BREAKING: Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued, the NWS says.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Nassau County. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m.
Showers developing over the area this morning could produce heavy rain at times with some embedded thunderstorms, the NWS says.
There will also be the potential for additional showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, which could lead to flash flooding.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued, the NWS says.
The work week will also get off to a stormy start.

Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Steady temperature around 75. Southeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Northeast wind around 8 mph.
Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 6 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Tuesday: A slight chance of showers before 9am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
