Freshman Congressman Garbarino Takes Oath In Washington, D.C.
A "great deal of work" to be done in providing relief to businesses and communities struggling with COVID-19: U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Freshman U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino was sworn into his new post in the Second Congressional District on Sunday in Washington, D.C. filling the seat long-held by U.S. Rep. Peter King who has retired after 27 years.
In a statement released Sunday night by his press office, Republican Garbarino, an attorney from Bayport, called his new post on Capitol Hill the “honor of a lifetime” and said that he looks forward to “hitting the ground running to proudly serve Southeast Long Islanders,” making reference to the Second Congressional District, which spans from North Wantagh in Nassau County to Bayport in Suffolk County.

“There is a great deal of work to be done to provide relief for our small businesses and communities still struggling with COVID-19 and I promise to fight every day to ensure that Washington, D.C. works for the hardworking people of southeast Long Island,” Garbarino stated.
A spokeswoman for Garbarino did not immediately respond to a request for comment about why he was not wearing a mask observing recommended COVID-19 protocol in a photo marking his new post.
