Hempstead Town Offering Free Adoptions All Summer
Families can bring home a pet with no adoption fees, as well as free microchipping and spaying/neutering of pets.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen has kicked off town’s annual “Summer of Love,” when the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will waive all pet adoption fees during the dog days of summer in order to promote higher adoption rates at the shelter.
The summer-long event, which will run through Sept. 2, will also include free rabies vaccinations and microchipping, as well as free spaying and neutering for all animals that are adopted.
“As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever-home," said Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."
