Hempstead Town Waiving Pet Adoption Fees All Summer At Shelter
The town is also providing free rabies vaccinations and micro-chipping for pet owners.
Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen kicked off the town’s annual "Summer of Love" adoption event, where the town's Animal Shelter waives all pet adoption fees, totaling about $100, during these "dog days of summer."
The summer-long event, which will run from June 3 through Labor Day on Sept. 2, will also include free rabies vaccinations and micro-chipping, as well as free spaying and neutering for all animals that are adopted.
“As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever-home," said Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet’s world forever.”
