Longtime Wantagh firefighter William J. Appold, has died in Florida.
Appold, who spent 26 years as a volunteer for Wantagh station, died on October 17, according to the website Legacy.com.
He was also a telephone repairman for Verizon for 39 years.
A funeral was held last week in Clearwater, Florida, where he lived.Â
