Patch reached out to the candidates to get more information about them. Here's what Gorman said:

Why are you seeking elective office?

Bring effective representation in the legislature to the 14th District.

The single most pressing issue facing our nation/state/community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Taxes. We must bring tax relief to the middle class by reforming the tax code so that the very wealthy pay their fair share. We need property tax relief by finding alternate and adequate funding for our schools.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I can work with the Assembly majority and actually pass legislation that is relevant and needed in our community.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency).

He has failed to pass any meaningful legislation in his career and has ignored environmental issues like the Bethpage toxic plume.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Adequate school funding not dependent on property tax, middle class tax relief.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Twenty years in financial services, a lifetime of community service in Wantagh and all over the district.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Don't be afraid to make what you believe is the right decision and stick to it, even if it is unpopular.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I will be accessible and open to constituents of all parties, and pursue policies and legislation that represents the needs and desires of all residents of the 14th district.
