Meet Patch's Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Lobster!

This special boy lost his leg to cancer, but he still has plenty of love to give.

Meet Patch's adoptable pet of the week. This week, we're featuring Lobster, a very special pup.

Lobster was brought to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter as a stray and was found to have a tumor on his leg. He was rushed to the vet, who determined he had bone cancer. In order to save his life, the vet had to amputate Lobster's leg. But now Lobster is healed and looking for a new home.

Lobster is a 5-year-old terrier mix. According to the shelter, he is sweet, fun and silly, and will do anything for a treat. And he also likes other dogs, which makes him the perfect addition to your family if you already have some other furry friends around the house.

"As the largest municipal animal shelter on Long Island, there are plenty of opportunities to give a loving cat or dog a forever home," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will surely change that pet's world forever."

If you're interested in adopting Lobster, or any of dozens of other cats and dogs, visit the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. For more information, call (516)785-5220 or visit the shelter's website.
