None Injured In 5-Alarm Blaze In Seaford: Wantagh FD
Breaking: The homeowner spotted smoke and was able to get out and alert authorities, Nassau County police said.
SEAFORD, NY — The owner of a two-story home in Seaford was able to get out unharmed after spotting smoke on Wednesday night, Nassau County police said.
The fire started just before 6 p.m. on the first floor of a two-story Lois Lane home, before it traveled to the second floor and on to the attic, the Wantagh Fire Department’s Public Information Officer Kevin Regan said Thursday.
The fire appears to have been spurred on by plumbing work that was done earlier in the day, he said. The cause of the fire is “possibly electrical,” and not considered suspicious by investigators, a police spokesman said.

The flames were brought under control within 30 minutes, according to Regan.
Regan said fire crews went to work quickly to secure a water supply from a nearby hydrant by stretching a fire hose line into the home to extinguish the blaze.
