QuickChek to Build Convenience Market in Seaford
QuickChek Corporation plans to construct a convenience market on Merrick Road in Seaford; expects to employ 35-50 local team members.
QuickChek Corporation has released updated information regarding its plans to open a convenience market on Merrick Road in Seaford.
“We are presently engaged with scheduling the next round of meetings with local organizations as we look to keep this process moving forward,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “We’ve met early in the design process with local groups and officials and have made changes that reflect local residents’ concerns. We would also like to clear up any misconceptions that may exist so that everyone is aware of our intentions.”
The Whitehouse Station, N.J. based chain has 140 locations throughout Long Island, New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. It has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York State in each of past three years.

QuickChek’s new plans for its proposed store in Seaford are to build only on commercially-zoned land. It has reduced the size of the planned market from its initial proposal and will share details when the next civic meeting date has been set, company officials said.
“We are a convenience market. We are not gas guys who got into food, but food guys who got into gas,” said Durling. “We are very proud of our restaurant-quality, award-winning food and beverage program. We offer a wide variety of convenience items including fuel, but we do not sell the high-flow diesel fuel used by large trucks that some members of the community are concerned about.”

QuickChek stores feature innovative touch-screen technology which allows consumers to create custom-made oven-toasted subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads served up by friendly employees.
“We are proud to be the neighborhood market close to where our customers live and work and look forward to serving the Seaford community, who will come to know us as a great place to work, a great place to shop, and a great place to invest,” said Durling.
Active in its communities, QuickChek has made a positive impact on Long Island. It has raised thousands of dollars for a variety of charities benefiting children, families and military veterans, including its sponsorship of the recently held Suffolk County Marathon & Half Marathon to Support Our Veterans in which it supplied more than 5,000 bottles of water to race participants.
Fifteen employees, including Durling and several corporate vice presidents, helped sort and box donations at the Long Island Cares food bank in April to help feed hungry area school children. The market chain has made recent contributions to the Middle Country Youth Association, the Suffolk County Police Athletic League, Island Slow Pitch, Brookhaven Fast Pitch, Suffolk County Baseball and the Lake Grove Cultural Arts, Recreation & Education Society.
Stores are modern by industry standards with the company maintaining bright clean stores, well-lighted fuel stations and parking lots with wide, easy-to-use entrances and exits that add to a shopper’s convenience.
Each new store employs 35-to-50 local team members and generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue, adding to the positive impact on the local economy.
