Seaford HS Engineering/Robotics Club Honored by School Board

Young scientists perform demonstration from their national competition before May 9 board of education meeting.

The Seaford High School Engineering/Robotics Club was honored last week after making waves on a national level this spring.

The young scientists were recognized before last Thursday’s Seaford Board of Education meeting a month after competing in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) national robotics championship in St. Louis. Seaford qualified for the prestigious event by winning the Rookie Highest Seed Award during the 14th Annual Long Island Regional FIRST Robotics competition held at Hofstra University from April 4-6.

The Seaford Engineering/Robotics Club did a demonstration for the crowd at Thursday’s school board meeting with a robot fring frisbees at a target, which was also done during the national competition in St. Louis. Club advisors for the team were Lauren Thompsen and Nick Isgro.
