Vote for George Krant for Wantagh Fire Commissioner: Letter to the Editor

I, Ex-Chief George Krant, would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the position of Fire Commissioner of the Wantagh Fire District. The position is for a five-year term and I respectfully request your support.

I started my career in the Wantagh Fire Department some 27 years ago. I lived locally, attended local schools and, upon marriage, continued to reside within the Wantagh Fire District. I lived in Seaford Harbor for a while, but eight years ago returned to Levittown to raise my family.

I have served the fire department as a firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief and Chief of Department. In addition to dedicating myself to the men and women of the fire department, and the constituents we serve, I have dedicated my professional life to the New York City Police Department. I have 22 years of service in the police department with 16 of those years in the Emergency Service Unit (ESU). I have attained the rank of 2nd Grade Detective and still serve with ESU.

The position of Fire District Commissioner comes with a great amount of statutory authority, one which requires integrity, honesty, fairness and fiscal constraint. While demonstrating fiscal constraint, I realize it is vital to ensure that our dedicated volunteers are provided with the finest training and equipment to continue to protect you from the perils of fire.

The job of commissioner also requires the candidate to respect and support the dedicated members of the department. I believe my demeanor, honesty, fairness and years of dedicated service speak for itself. I also feel strongly that change is needed for the betterment of the Fire District and those we serve. I’m not only asking for your support, but the support of your family and friends within The Wantagh Fire District.
