Wantagh Boys Lacrosse Bounced in Quarterfinals

Warriors upset by sixth-seeded North Shore, 12-8 at Hofstra.

For the first time in four years, the Wantagh boys lacrosse team will not be on the semifinal stage of the Nassau County playoffs.

The third-seeded Warriors were upset by sixth-seeded North Shore Friday afternoon in the Class B quarterfinals at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium, 12-8. Wantagh senior Brandon Watson had four goals and one assist in the loss, which ends the Warriors’ season at 15-3. The last time Wantagh did not reach the semifinals was in 2009 when the Warriors were defeated by Plainedge, 7-6.

Wantagh had reached the quarterfinals with a convincing 14-2 first round home win against 14th-seeded Floral Park this past Monday. The Warriors defeated North Shore in the regular season on April 27 by a 12-11 score.

North Shore now advances to the county semifinals to face second-seeded Manhasset on Wednesday at Hofstra.
