WANTAGH, NY — As part of National Police Week, students at Mandalay Elementary School turned arts and crafts into a thank you project for law enforcement.

Cards were created to celebrate and commemorate local police officers. The initiative was coordinated by the Town of Hempstead's Thank a Law Enforcement Officer program.

Students in Arlene Berman’s and Alexandra Martinek’s classrooms were given suggestions of what their cards should say, the Wantagh School District said in a statement.
