Wantagh High School Earns NY Recognition School Distinction
Wantagh High School was recognized as one of 582 schools in the state that are high achieving and high progress Recognition Schools.

WANTAGH, NY — Wantagh High School has earned the distinction of a high-achieving and high-progress Recognition School, making it one of just 582 schools in New York to earn the designation. Recognition Schools are identified under the Every Student Succeeds Act as educational institutions with high academic achievement and strong progress.
Superintendent John McNamara called the designation the result of the "hard work of the faculty, staff and student body, as well as unsurpassed community support."
Recognition School had to meet specific — and rigorous — metrics set by the state Department of Education. Wantagh High School was one of just 212 New York high schools that achieved that honor and will receive a certificate of recognition from the state's education commissioner.

Principal Paul Guzzone said he was extremely excited that Wantagh High School was identified as a Recognition School.
"Not only does it recognize our school and district as one of the top performing academic institutions in New York, more importantly, this recognition honors the community, who gives so much to ensure our learners get what they need to experience success in all areas of growth and development," he said.
