Wantagh Native Hopes To Make Splash At Olympics

WANTAGH, NY — The rescheduled Olympics for Tokyo will have a local feel in the air. Wantagh native Andrew Capobianco, 21, has qualified for the Summer Games in the diving competition.

Capobianco, while at the University of Indiana, was named Big Ten Diver of the Year in March.

He left his hometown at age 13, News 12 reported, to train for his Olympic dreams in North Carolina.

Capobianco will compete in the 3-meter and synchronized events, News 12 said.

The new Olympian was the Big Ten Diver of the Year in 2019 and 2021.
