Wantagh School District Celebrates Art Festival
Several hundred works of art were featured from top student-artists in Wantagh Middle and High Schools.
Photographs, drawings, paintings and sculptures from Wantagh Middle and High Schools students were recently on display during the district’s annual Art Festival. Many were previously selected for exhibitions and scholarships across Long Island, including the Art Supervisors Association All-County exhibit, the Long Island’s Best Young Artists Exhibition at the Heckscher Museum, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards contest, the Long Island Arts Alliance Scholar Artists Program and more. In addition, Advanced Placement students were on hand to describe and answer questions about their individual galleries.
Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts Kelly Good described the quality of work being displayed as gallery-worthy. “It is fascinating to see the culmination of a year’s work and what was created,” she said. “Every year the bar is set higher.”
Musical entertainment by the middle school orchestra and high school percussion ensemble not only punctuated the tone of the Art Festival, but allowed students, faculty and residents to take a closer look at the district’s music program.
