Wantagh, Seaford Teams Begin High School Playoff Runs
A roundup of where local lacrosse, baseball and softball teams stand in their postseason runs.

The high school playoffs are in full swing for Wantagh and Seaford teams vying for a championship.
The Wantagh boys and girls lacrosse teams both advanced to the quarterfinal round with convincing victories Monday. The Wantagh and Seaford softball teams however had their seasons abuptly ended with second round losses Monday and the two local baseball squads will play must-win games Tuesday afternoon. Below is a roundup of where each of the Wantagh and Seaford teams stand in their postseason runs.
- Wantagh softball- The Lady Warriors blanked Garden City 9-0 in a first round game this past Thursday but had their season ended Monday in a 5-3 loss to Bethpage.
- Seaford softball- The Lady Vikings advanced past the first round on Friday with an 11-3 romp against Jericho but then had their playoff run halted in an 8-7 loss to Clarke Monday.
- Wantagh baseball- The Warriors completed a 19-0 regular season last week but fell in their first playoff game to Garden City Monday, 4-0. Wantagh now faces a must-win home game against Island Trees at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday starting at 4:30 p.m. A win will send the Warriors to a best-of-three Nassau county Class A quarterfinals series.
- Seaford baseball- Jake Williams capped a three-run rally with a two-out fifth inning single that drove in two runs and gave the Vikings a 3-2 first round win against New Hyde Park on Saturday. Seaford is at Division Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in a second round game with a victory sending the Vikings to the Nassau County Class A quarterfinals.
- Wantagh boys lacrosse- The Warriors posted a dominating first round home win against Floral Park on Monday by a 14-2 score. Wantagh will next face North Shore in a quarterfinal game against North Shore this Friday at Hofstra starting at 4:30 p.m.
- Wantagh girls lacrosse- The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 16-2 lead en route to a 25-5 first round win against Herricks Monday afternoon. Wantagh next faces South Side this Thursday at home in a quarterfinal matchup.
- Seaford boys lacrosse- The Vikings face Locust Valley in the Nassau County Class C quarterfinals on Wednesday at Hofstra with first faceoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Seaford finished the regular season at 12-3.
- Seaford girls lacrosse- The Lady Vikings open up postseason play with a Class C quarterfinal home game against Island Trees on Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m. Seaford finished the regular season at 8-7.
