Wantagh Shutout Victory Caps Day of Homecoming Celebration

Homecoming celebrations for the Wantagh community included a parade, victorious football game, and halftime show with band and cheerleaders.

The Wantagh school community celebrated homecoming on Sept. 27 by waving banners and making music in the streets. The parade was led by grand marshal Kathleen Cahill, the district’s director of science and technology, and members of the Board of Education and administration.

The parade began on Bunker Ave. and marchers showed their Warriors spirit with smiles elicited by bear, bee and dolphin mascots from the district’s three elementary schools. Floats from each high school grade class were on prominent display, with the winner being the sophomores and their creation themed after “The Price Is Right.”

As the parade headed north on Wantagh Ave., each group had a chance to shine, including the Wantagh 6-12 Association, Wantagh Sports Booster Club, Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners’ Association, Wantagh High School alumni and local Girl Scout troops and cheerleading clubs.
