WANTAGH, NY — Wantagh's annual tree-lighting and menorah blessing ceremony was held Monday night, featuring various Town of Hempstead officials, Miss Wantagh and even Santa Claus.

The ceremony, held at 6 p.m. at the Wantagh Preservation Society, was hosted by the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce. Part of it was livestreamed on Facebook.

Organizers said the star, which illuminates a brilliant blue color, is new this year. The site also includes a Nativity scene.
