Five 'Affordable' Washington Heights Units Require $65K Income

The five one-bedroom apartments are renting in a newly-constructed building on Amsterdam Avenue and West 158th Street.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A new development in Washington Heights is accepting applications for its below-market rate units, and prospective tenants are required to earn at least $65,000 per year.

Five one-bedroom apartments at a new complex on 1980 Amsterdam Ave., located on the corner of East 158th Street, will rent for $1,900, according to the city Housing Connect website. The apartments are offered at below-market rates through the 421a tax incentive program.

Individuals are two-person households earning an annual income of at least $65,143 are eligible to apply for the apartments. The maximum annual income for individuals is $95,030 and the maximum annual income for two-person households is $108,550.

Prospective tenants may apply for the lottery through the city's Housing Connect website. A mail-in application can be requested by sending a self-addressed envelope to: 1980 Amsterdam Avenue Apartments, C/O Reside New York, 381 South 5th Street Unit #1, Brooklyn, NY 11211. Applications must be sent or postmarked by Jan. 17.
