Fort George, Inwood Are Manhattan's Cheapest Neighborhoods: Study
Only four Manhattan neighborhoods were named among the most affordable in New York City — three of them were in Upper Manhattan.
INWOOD, NY — There are very few neighborhoods in New York City, especially in Manhattan, that anyone would consider affordable.
However, Fort George and Inwood were recently named the most affordable neighborhoods in Manhattan, according to a study by Property Club.
The real estate website put together the ranking by looking at all recorded closed sales for residential properties in NYC for 2020. It only included neighborhoods with at least 10 sales during the year.

Not far behind Fort George was the larger Inwood neighborhood, which ranked as the second most affordable in Manhattan and 25th in the city. The median home sales price in Inwood over the last year was $407,500, according to the study.
Washington Heights was also one of four Manhattan neighborhoods to feature on the list, ranking as the 48th most affordable in the city.
The Upper East Side's Tudor City also made the ranking out of Manhattan.
The low number of Manhattan neighborhoods on the list comes in stark contrast to the borough's domination of NYC's Most Expensive Neighborhoods ranking that Property Club released last week.
Manhattan made up more than half of the neighborhoods on that ranking.
The overwhelming number of neighborhoods that made the most affordable NYC list came from the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island — just two from Brooklyn were featured on the ranking.
The top ten cheapest neighborhoods came exclusively from the Bronx and Queens, and 17 neighborhoods from Staten Island made the ranking.
