Lottery Opens For 6 Below-Market Washington Heights Apartments
The six one-bedroom apartments are renting at $1,650 and $1,800 and are eligible for people earning higher than the area median income.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A lottery for six brand new Washington Heights apartments offered at below-market-rate rents is now accepting applications, according to the city's Housing Connect website. The units are located in a new development on West 161st Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
The apartments are eligible for people earning 130 percent of the area median income, according to the city's Housing Connect website. With a minimum income requirement of $56,572 for an individual, many people living in Uptown Manhattan may not be able to qualify for the lottery.
Four of the one-bedroom units are renting at $1,650 per month and two of the units are renting at $1,800 per month. Individuals and families of two earning a combined income between $56,572 and $108,550 are eligible to apply for the cheaper units and individuals and families of two earning between $61,715 and $108,550 are eligible to apply for the more expensive units.

Prospective tenants may apply for the lottery through the city's Housing Connect website. A mail-in application can be requested by sending a self-addressed envelope to: MGNY Consulting, c/o 577 West 161 Street Apartments, 18 Bridge St, Suite 2D, Brooklyn, NY, 11201.
