Plans Filed To Build Greenhouse Next To Cloisters

The 280-square-foot greenhouse would occupy the grounds of the museum dedicated to medieval art and artifacts.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-INWOOD, NY — The Metropolitan Museum of Art has filed plans with the City Department of Buildings to construct a greenhouse on the grounds of the Met Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park.

The greenhouse would be a small structure, rising just 13-feet-tall and occupying 280 square feet of space, according to development plans. The Met Cloisters museum specializes in medieval art, architecture and sculpture.

The plans were filed on behalf of the museum by Walter B. Melvin Associates, according to building plans. The architectural firm specializes in restoration architecture and historic preservation, according to its website.
