Wash Heights Building Has The 2nd Most Violations In Manhattan
A Washington Heights building set to get demolished near West 182nd Street ranked near the top of this year's Worst Landlord Watchlist.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The Public Advocate's office recently released its annual list of the worst landlords in New York City as measured by open violations in their buildings — and Manhattan's second-worst offender is a property in Washington Heights.
A residential building at 2461 Amsterdam, near West 182nd Street, had 448 open violations on file during the past year with the city's Housing Preservation and Development Department — the second most in Manhattan.
The 24-unit property also received five Department of Building violations during the period.

But unlike many of the other buildings on the list — which aims to expose poor conditions faced by tenants — the property is empty.
The building has been set to get demolished since January 2018, but it has dealt with a myriad of violations in the time since.

It currently has over 20 open violations from the Department of Buildings and NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).
The violations, which are still getting investigated, range from a roof collapse that triggered an FDNY inspection, to a failure to correct hazardous material.
Additionally, management of the building has had to pay over $6,000 in response to OATH penalties.
It is not immediately clear if there are plans to build a new property after the current structure is demolished.
