GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — The historic Greenwich Village home with ties to U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr sold for $4.8 million this month, city records show.
The 19th century home, located at 118 Commerce St., sold for $4.8 million in April, the New York Post first reported.
The deal was finalized on April 12, according to the home's deed. The building was bought by an limited liability corporation named "17 Commerce St LLC," but signatures on the deed show that the new owner is contemporary artist Walton Ford. Ford's work has been displayed in museums including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Smithsonian.

Aaron Burr's colorful history throughout the Revolutionary War was documented in the Broadway smash "Hamilton," which follows Alexander Hamilton's life up until he was killed in a duel with Burr.
"Hamilton definitely raised the home’s profile," Bernice Leventhal, a broker with the Corcoran Group, told the New York Post. "The buyer loved the historic character of the house and its authenticity."

The house dates back to 1830. Historians don't actually believe that Burr lived in the house himself, but rather that he owned the land it stands on.
