Here's The Best Time To Rent An Apartment In The Village

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Looking for an apartment to rent in the Village?

Similar to other Manhattan and Brooklyn neighborhoods, the absolute worst time to rent an apartment in the West Village is the end of July — when the demand for apartment rentals reach their peak for the year, a new analysis from StreetEasy shows.

The best time is during the winter months — with the lowest demand in December, according to the analysis.

StreetEasy's analysis shows the months when there's the highest demand for a one-bedroom in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Some 80 percent of neighborhoods StreetEasy analyzed have the highest demand in July — and the East Village, West Village and Greenwich Village are no different.

For Greenwich Village and the East Village, the fourth week of July is when demands peak. In the West Village, it is the fifth week of July

The competition for rental units in the neighborhoods StreetEasy studied is also, in part, due to a higher number of rental availabilities during July, the real estate listing website says. Per StreetEasy, there are 11 percent more rentals available than other months. In December, the stock is 12 percent below average.

Demands are creeping upwards this month, though dip back down the first week of July in the three nabes.
