Kroger Buys Murray's Cheese Store In Greenwich Village

Kroger buys Murray's Cheese flagship store in Greenwich Village.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — The supermarket giant Kroger has purchased the flagship store for Murray's Cheese, one of New York's most iconic cheese shops.

Kroger paid $20.6 million to purchase the store at 254 Bleecker St. and two neighboring retail units, according to city property records. The sale, which was first reported by The Real Deal on Friday, further solidifies a partnership between the two food providers. Kroger's operates hundreds o Murray's kiosks in its grocery stores nationwide. Murray's has one other location in New York City at Grand Central, in addition to its flagship Greenwich Village location.

The storefront for a neighboring Amy's Bread, located at 250 Bleecker St., was also included in the sale.
