Long-Vacant West Village Corner To Get Seven-Story Building

The building will bring 29 new units to the neighborhood, building records show.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A developer aims to erect a seven-story mixed use building at the long-vacant corner of West 8th and MacDougal streets near Washington Square Park, city building records show.

Permits filed with the city show plans to raise a 74-foot tall building with 43,4000 square feet — 33,900 dedicated to residential use and more than 7,200 set aside for commercial space.

The building will include 26 apartments with an average of 1,300 square feet per unit. Morris Adjmi Architects will design the structure, which is slated for a ground floor with a lobby and retail shops, and a penthouse unit on the top floor with a private terrace, building records show.
