New Permits Filed For Demolition Of Vacant West Village Building
Demo permits have been filed for a one-story building at 15 Greenwich Avenue to possibly make room for a five-story mixed-use building.
WEST VILLAGE, NY — Demolition permits have been filed for a West Village building that currently sits vacant, according to the Department of Buildings.
The one-story building at 15 Greenwich Avenue, in between West 10th Street and Christopher Street, was the longtime home to the Italian restaurant Grano Trattoria. The eatery closed in 2016, and the building briefly hosted a ChaShaMa artist space, which is a nonprofit that transforms vacant properties into art studios.
The building is owned by Helen Robertson and was constructed in 1937. The property is also part of the Greenwich Village Historic District.

The permits do not specify when the building's demolition will begin or when construction on the new building is expected to start.
