1st Ever Veterans Day Car Parade in Hampton Bays ElementarySchool
It was "three cheers for veterans" in Hampton Bays this week.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — The next generation cheered on the nation's greatest heroes in honor of Veterans Day this week.
Hampton Bays veterans were honored during the first Veterans Day car parade ever held at Hampton Bays Elementary School on Nov. 9.
Wearing patriotic garb and waving American flags, the district’s fourth graders lined the school’s traffic circle to cheer on the veterans as patriotic music played.

The parade topped off a week of learning about the importance of Veterans Day during which students participated in a mini boot camp with Army veteran Erik Blom, took a walking tour of the community’s veterans memorial, and learned about the significance of the poppy by reading “The Poppy Lady: Moina Belle Michael and Her Tribute to Veterans” by Barbara E. Walsh, the district said.
