2 Workers 'Overcome' By Carbon Monoxide At LI Home: Police
They had been working inside a home without proper ventilation, police say.
LONG ISLAND, NY —Two workers were "overcome" by carbon monoxide at a home in Hampton Bays Thursday, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, at 5 p.m., a call came in about an unconscious man at a home on Bay Avenue North; officers found one person unconscious inside the home and one semi-conscious in a vehicle outside.
The residence was under construction and the two men had been working inside, using a piece of equipment without proper ventilation, police said.

The Hampton Bays Fire Department tested the air quality inside the home and
found an "extremely high" reading on the carbon monoxide meter, police said.
The Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the two to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said. Both were later taken to Mather Hospital; one man remains in serious condition and the second is in stable condition, police said.
